Polish trailer OEM, Wielton S.A has launched a new company specifically designed for the recycling and up-cycling of semi-trailers and components.
The new off-shoot, ReTrailer Sp. z o.o., has at its core mission the sustainability of the transport industry and will focus on the second life cycle, or factory refurbishment, of semi-trailers, together with the sale and rental of used trailers and the responsible recycling and disposal of trailers beyond repair.
The new company’s goal is therefore to effectively manage the full life cycle of semi-trailers – from production, through the operational phases to withdrawal from the market and proper disposal.
ReTrailer’s full refurbishment of semi-trailers will enable transport companies to optimise the costs associated with fleet management, while complying with ESG principles and actively contributing to sustainable development and environmental protection.
This circular economy approach to trailers is aligned with the Wielton Group’s core strategy adopted for 2023-2027.
“Realising how important it is to take care of the environment in the face of a changing world and the economic challenges that haulage companies have been facing recently, we have decided to extend the scope of our activities to include the thorough refurbishment of trailers,” said Wielton Group CEO, Paweł Szataniak.
“Following a technical audit, ReTrailer will not only carry out a complete refurbishment of the components but will also replace the necessary parts.
“By improving the condition and appearance of a used vehicle using the potential of each component, it will gain a new, longer life and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint produced by transport.”
ReTrailer’s services will allow semi-trailer manufacturers to restore their vehicles to full performance and aesthetics, while extending their life cycle by up to another six years.
During the refurbishment process, key components such as bodies, floors, frames, axles, braking system, tyres and rims are renewed.
Components that are not suitable for refurbishment, such as the suspension and electrical and pneumatic systems, will be replaced.
“Slogans such as CO₂ reduction and sustainability are often repeated in the market, but are rarely followed by real, cost-effective solutions,” said ReTrailer Sp. z o.o CEO, Bartosz Budnicki.
“Our ambition is to provide a product that combines ecology with cost-effectiveness.
“In today’s reality, hauliers, in order to reduce costs and increase competitiveness, are looking for solutions to extend the life of their rolling stock.
“ReTrailer responds to these challenges by offering not only significant savings, but also certified CO₂ reductions for environmentally conscious customers.”
ReTrailer will offer a wide range of fully operational used and refurbished semi-trailers, as well as refurbishment services for customers’ vehicles.
“Today, customers expect a reliable and efficient loading area, based not only on new vehicles,” said Budnicki.
“This is confirmed by the first purchases and orders at ReTrailer.
“To meet the expectations of our business partners, we offer factory refurbishment of trailers of all leading brands and types – not only Wielton Group products.”
