Waberer’s Group and BPW are teaming up to cover telematics, aerodynamic trailer retrofits and axle technology across the Hungarian logistics provider’s fleet.
The agreement includes a framework contract with idem telematics for the supply of 2,200 trailer telematics units over the next five years. According to the companies, deployment has already started, with more than 300 units installed.
Waberer’s has also ordered more than 400 Hestal FlowMaster aerodynamic rear systems to retrofit existing trailers. The device is designed to reduce aerodynamic drag and fuel consumption, with the companies estimating savings of up to 0.4 litres of diesel per 100km.
As part of its 2026 fleet renewal programme, Waberer’s will equip 200 new semi-trailers with BPW axle technology.
Waberer’s operates a road fleet of almost 2,700 vehicles across international and regional transport operations. The partnership is intended to combine trailer hardware, telematics and efficiency technologies to improve fleet performance and operational visibility.
The idem telematics platform provides data on trailer location, status and utilisation, supporting fleet management, maintenance planning and asset availability.
Commenting on the agreement, Ralf Merkelbach, Head of Fleet Sales Europe at BPW, said the partnership reflects growing demand among large fleet operators for integrated trailer solutions rather than individual components.
Laszlo Budai, Technical and Facilities Director at Waberer’s, said fleet modernisation increasingly requires a combination of reliable hardware, fuel-saving technologies and digital fleet data to support operational efficiency.
The companies said the partnership extends beyond new vehicle procurement by combining retrofit technologies for existing trailers with telematics and running gear solutions for future fleet investments.
