Dutch company Valx has revealed a new, innovative axle at the 2012 IAA in Hannover. The new E2! axle can convert rotational force of a trailer wheel into useable energy.
The wheel rotation is transferred through the hollow axle tube and wheel-end by a lightweight drive shaft and drives a generator that is positioned in the center on the axle tube. With the generated power, the customer can operate the electric consumers on a trailer autonomously and is therefore no longer dependent on the electric power connection with the truck.
