German OEM, Krone, and Platform Science, formerly Trimble Transport & Logistics, are launching a fully integrated trailer telematics solution to improve connectivity for prime movers and trailers.
This solution is reported to eliminate the need for multiple portals and duplicate hardware. It is also expected to reduce workload as well as cut costs and save time for operators.
There are three selectable service packages that offer graduated functions:
- Basic Package: GPS location and tracking.
- Premium Package: GPS location and tracking, data from electronic braking system, tyre pressure monitoring system and door sensors.
- Premium ‘Cool’ Package: GPS location and tracking, data from electronic braking system, tyre pressure monitoring system, door sensors, complete cold chain integration.
As the telematics solution is manufacturer-independent and open, this application is also suitable for large fleets with mixed vehicles.
“With Krone, we are now overcoming the final hurdle and making the use of a telematics solution for the entire articulated truck easier than before,” said Platform Science Country Manager DACH & CEE, Lutz Seigert.
For Maximilian Birle, Head of Telematics & Digital Services at Krone, the goal is achieving a seamlessly integrated trailer.
“With Platform Science, we are creating a solution that is ready for use immediately upon delivery and fully visible in the customer’s system – thus reducing the workload on IT departments and making our trailers significantly more valuable in digital terms,” he said.
The two companies are presenting their solution for the first time at the trade fair event Transport Logistic in Munich from 2-5 June 2025.
Visitors to the trade fair will be able to see the trailer telematics solution at live demonstrations at the Krone Stand in Hall A6, Stand 201/302, and the Platform Science stand in Hall B1, Stand 101/202.
In related news, Krone is set to host the Truck Grand Prix race on 10 July 2025.
