US-based OEM, Utility, has taken trailer telematics and tracking a step further with the launch of its Utility TrailerConnect system.
The company offers a powerful telematics platform that gives fleet managers, dispatchers, and truck drivers access to real-time, actionable data—all in one place. As a result, its TrailerConnect telematics system can deliver proactive, timely and targeted notifications, avoiding data overload.
The innovative system integrates IOT sensors and data from various third-party applications, providing a complete, real-time view of a company’s fleet.
The trailer agnostic program simplifies fleet management and enables dry vans, flatbeds and reefers across a fleet’s entire trailer portfolio to be tracked and monitored, giving fleet managers full visibility and real-time insights into an entire trailer fleet.

Utility also offers UTC-BASIC as part of its telematics portfolio, as well as a retrofit program for existing trailers. “Our portfolio now includes UTC-BASIC, which can be installed at the factory or via the retrofit program, and UTC-PRO, which comes standard with the Cargobull North America TRUs,” said Mols.

UTC-BASIC includes essential features, such geo-location tracking, tire monitoring, and integration with the Bendix TABS-8 ABS system, which provide key data, such as trailer weight, tire pressure alerts, and braking system health. It is essentially digitising dry vans and flatbeds into ‘smart’ assets.
Already integrated with the Cargobull TRUs, UTC-PRO offers advanced features like precision temperature recording, door monitoring, and two-way TRU communication, making it ideal for cold-chain logistics, ensuring cargo integrity and compliance.
Cargobull North America has also upgraded its TRUs.
