South African truck body and trailer builder, Serco, has unveiled a new curtainsider system designed to cut opening and closing times by half.
The company said its ‘Quick-Draw’ curtainsider, designed to improve efficiency, security, and reduce wind drag for improved fuel efficiency, is already gaining traction with transport operators.
Serco said the fast-opening curtain mechanism allows drivers to open and close vehicle sides in up to half the time compared to conventional buckle systems, making it ideal for time-sensitive deliveries, high-turnover distribution hubs and demanding logistics schedules.
Built on a durable aluminium extrusion with rollers at both the top and bottom of the curtain, the system reduces operator fatigue while boosting productivity, Serco said.
The company highlighted the new system’s advantages as including faster usage, greater efficiency, enhanced security, lower costs and wear and tear and versatility.
It said the Quick Draw curtainsider can be used for palletised freight, beverages, and general cargo across both short-haul truck bodies and long-haul trailers and interlinks.
Serco CEO, Clinton Holcroft, said: “The fast-opening curtain system is a practical and cost-effective way for transporters to optimise their fleets.
“It enhances operational speed while offering excellent branding potential – a real win for our customers.”
