German trailer builder Schmitz Cargobull’s Altenberg plant has won the Manufacturing Excellence Award 2014 in the ‘logistics and network management’ category for the second year in a row.
According to Schmitz Cargobull, the jury was impressed by the plant’s focus on reducing processing times, as today’s customers are able to receive a semi-trailer order in less than 18 hours.
“This ‘speed’ is based on the cooperation of many skilled employees in the production process, who we believe can best identify and implement opportunities for improvement due to their daily experiences,” said Volker Flatau, who manages the company's curtain-sider division.
“By exchanging idead and sharing experiences we have created a dynamics that helps us work more efficiently and customer-focused.”
