German trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull has secured a 3000-trailer order from Danish transport and logistics company, DSV.
Søren Lund, Director Equipment at DSV Road Holding NV, personally took delivery of the first trailer of the lot, a rail-transportable curtain-sider.
The semi-trailer was delivered by Ulrich Schöpker, Member of the Schmitz Cargobull Board, and Josef Warmeling, Head of International Key Account Management at Schmitz Cargobull.
“What makes it so special is that the contract is just 10 days old, yet Schmitz Cargobull still managed to provide a finished, sign-written DSV semi-trailer on a ‚just in time’ basis,“ the company said in a statement.
“This is all thanks to a sophisticated, well-functioning logistics and production control system which takes account of inbound parts from even the smallest supplier, right up to the detailed production process.
“In extreme cases, the process is so efficient that it is even possible produce a new trailer within just 18 hours.“
According to Schmitz Cargobull, the order will be steadily processed over the next two years, and includes delivery of both Universal and Mega models.
All trailers will be equipped with Schmitz Cargobull’s own Rotos running gear and a body height adjustment system called Varios, which ensures adherence to country-specific height regulations in trans-European transport.
What’s more, all of the trailers will be prepared for rail and ferry transportation.
