Trailer builder, Schmitz Cargobull, is accelerating the digital transformation of transport operations from AI-powered inspections to fully online trailer leasing.
The OEM has partnered with a range of tech companies to bring practical digital solutions to daily transport routines. AI-supported vehicle inspections from Checkturio allow drivers to photograph trailers via a mobile app, with damages automatically detected, time-stamped and made visible to fleet managers through a web dashboard – online or offline.
Driver registration has also gone digital. Through Austrian platform Heylog, drivers can register via smartphone using familiar channels such as WhatsApp or Viber, receiving safety instructions and operational data without installing new apps or hardware.
In leasing, Fleetloop provides real-time trailer availability, flexible rental periods, transparent pricing, and fully digital contract and document management. Meanwhile, Schmitz Cargobull’s MyCargobull portal gives service-contract customers a single point of access for vehicle status, maintenance plans and history of requests and repairs.
For refrigerated logistics, Spanish partner AGS Atlantis Global System enables real-time temperature and moisture monitoring across vehicles, warehouses, and cargo, supporting even the most demanding cold chain requirements.
“Digitalisation is taking to the roads,” said Schmitz Cargobull CEO, Andreas Schmitz. “We are committed to exploiting every opportunity to make transport operations more efficient, safer and connected than ever before.”
In other news, Yusen Logistics recently added 30 trailers to its fleet in the UK.
