SAF-Holland has introduced three new technologies spanning uncoupling safety, brake monitoring and lightweight suspension systems, aimed at improving uptime, efficiency and driver protection across modern trailer operations.
The announcements, made in the US, highlight the supplier’s continued push toward smarter, more connected trailer components that address both safety risks and total cost of ownership.
Leading the updates is the new HOLLAND SmartSTO, a system designed to make uncoupling safer and more consistent.
By relocating the fifth wheel air-release control to an external position and integrating connection-line stowage verification, the system removes the need for drivers to reach beneath the trailer – reducing injury risk while ensuring air and electrical lines are properly secured before release. The push-button operation also helps standardise uncoupling procedures and minimise the risk of costly line damage and downtime.
In parallel, SAF-Holland has launched BrakeSight, a real-time brake wear monitoring solution for Haldex ModulT air disc brakes.
Using an integrated sensor within the calliper, the system continuously measures pad and rotor wear and transmits data via CAN to telematics platforms. This enables fleets to move from reactive to predictive maintenance, optimising service intervals, extending component life and improving vehicle uptime.
Rounding out the trio is the new UltraLite40 slider for the ULX40 mechanical sliding suspension system.
Engineered to be both lighter and more durable, the updated design supports increased payload capacity while maintaining strength for demanding on-highway applications. The system has also been refined for improved manufacturability and easier OEM installation, with streamlined configurations aimed at boosting production efficiency and supply reliability.
All three products are scheduled for release in Q4 2026, reinforcing SAF-Holland’s focus on delivering practical innovations that enhance safety, reduce maintenance burdens and support evolving fleet and OEM requirements.
