North American integrated logistics and transportation company, Ryder System, Inc. has announced its Chairman and CEO, Robert E. Sanchez, 60, will retire on 31 March 2026.
As part of the succession plan approved by the company’s board of directors, Ryder’s President and Chief Operating Officer John J. Diez, 54, will assume the CEO role of the fully , effective 31 March 2026.
Diez was also elected to the company’s board of directors, effective on that same date.
Sanchez, who was named Ryder CEO in January 2013 and chairman of the board in May 2013, will assume the role of executive chair of the company’s board of directors to ensure a smooth transition.

“Robert has led the development and execution of Ryder’s balanced growth strategy to derisk the business, improve returns, and accelerate the growth of our supply chain and dedicated businesses that has transformed the company’s return profile.
“We are proud to name John to be Ryder’s next CEO as part of a well-planned succession. John has an exceptional business track record, understands our customers’ needs, and knows the company very well as a result of his more-than-20-year tenure with Ryder.”
Robert Sanchez said: “Serving Ryder for more than three decades has truly been an extraordinary experience.
“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the most talented and dedicated professionals in our industry to deliver for our employees, customers, and shareholders.
“I’ve worked with John for over two decades and his deep understanding of our business, sound judgment and strategic mindset uniquely positions him to lead the company. I am confident that he is the right leader to drive Ryder’s continued growth.”

Diez has served as Ryder’s President and Chief Operating Officer since 1 January 2025, contributing to the company’s strategic direction and operational management. Previously, he served as the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
During his tenure with Ryder, Diez was also president of Ryder’s fleet management business, leading all areas of fleet operations and maintenance, as well as president of the company’s dedicated transportation business unit where he led strong revenue growth and improved business returns.
In other news, Ryder System has expanded its footprint in theSoutheast states, opening a new 20,000 square feet (1,858 square metres) full-service commercial truck rental and maintenance facility at McDonough, Georgia, in South Atlanta’s fast-growing logistics corridor.
The new facility will enhance access to fleet and maintenance services for regional businesses.
Strategically positioned near I-75 and major distribution hubs, the facility advances Ryder’s port-to-door logistics service model with rental, maintenance, and fleet solutions. This new location follows Ryder’s recent Nashville-area expansion, reinforcing a broader strategy to meet rising demand across high-growth regions.
With five full drive-through maintenance bays, the facility will also feature ‘RyderGyde’ integration for real-time fleet visibility and shop status updates.
“This expansion reflects Ryder’s investment in high-growth regions where evolving logistics needs demand flexible and tech-enabled solutions,” said Ryder Fleet Management Solutions President, Tom Havens.
“McDonough’s proximity to Atlanta, strong infrastructure, and thriving industrial base make it an ideal location for extending our service footprint.”

McDonough, located in Henry County, one of Georgia’s fastest-growing logistics and manufacturing hubs, is rapidly emerging as a key inland port destination. Its strategic position along I-75 connects businesses to Atlanta’s metro market and beyond.
The new Ryder facility is expected to create employment opportunities in the region, including roles for skilled technicians and customer service professionals.
Ryder System, Inc. is a fully integrated port-to-door logistics and transportation company operating throughout North America and Mexico.
In addition, Ryder manages nearly 250,000 commercial vehicles, services fleets at approximately 760 maintenance locations, and operates nearly 300 warehouses encompassing more than 100 million square feet (9.29 million square metres).
