US company Meritor WABCO has launched several new initiatives to increase safety on the road and maintain a leading position in the contested trailing equipment market – highlighted by a new, catchy tagline.
Just after research company ACT officially announced the third year of growth in the current cyclical recovery, Meritor WABCO presented a whole range of new developments to cement its position as a leading force in the North American trailing equipment market – including the Roll Stability Support 1M and the System Saver 1200 Plus air dryer.
“Meritor WABCO has a legacy of being first-to-market with breakthrough safety innovations,” says Jon Morrison, president of Meritor WABCO. “These latest products demonstrate that we’re going to continue that leadership position by continuously developing fully-integrated, cost-efficient systems that save lives and improve performance.”
The Roll Stability Support (RSS) 1M, is a two-sensor, one-modulator system which integrates both ABS and trailer stability control into a single compact unit. Its features include anti-lock brake performance, stability control, integrated control and supply port screens, a tank mountable ECU/valve assembly, optional lift axle control and Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by PSI monitoring.
The North American venture also released an enhanced version of the Saver 1200 Plus air dryer. Modified from the 2009 edition, the upgraded version now allows integration of the wet tank into the existing platform giving it added application flexibility and the capability for additional weight savings.
In addition, Meritor WABCO will market and distribute SafeTraK, Takata Corporation’s vehicle sensor system, which offers Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Driver Alertness Warning. The vision-based system monitors the road ahead and audibly warns drivers if they unintentionally depart from a lane or the road. The LDW system also alerts drivers of weaving, lane drifts or lane changes that occur by detecting and classifying lane markers on upcoming road.
The company’s new innovations coincide with the unveiling of Meritor WABCO’s new tagline – “Safety Strong. Efficiency Smart” – which reflects the company’s proven performance in integrated safety technology and efficient air system solutions. “Creating a new tagline for the Meritor WABCO brand was a way to demonstrate our focus on what’s next in commercial vehicle safety and efficiency,” says Morrison.
