German transport company LIT has added 50 height-optimised Kögel Mega units to its fleet. The trailers will be used in LIT's just-in-time business serving the automobile industry.
According to Kögel, the Mega P55 is ideally suited to the execution of volume transport. In addition, it meets the permissible overall height of four metres with a usable internal height of three metres and a semi-trailer coupling height of 91 centimetres. A tare weight starting at 6.4 tonnes, meanwhile, allows for high levels of payload.
The usable internal height of three metres makes the P55 the ideal solution for the German automotive sector, Kögel announced. “Loading and unloading stacked pallet cages is simple thanks to the mechanical-hydraulic lifting roof. This increases the side and rear loading height to three metres.”
All 50 new L.I.T. trailers are specced in accordance to Daimler guideline 9.5. This includes pallet stops and end wall doubling, for instance. For safe ramp loading, additional support fixtures with mechanical lifting and lowering are mounted behind the axle unit. In addition, all trailers are fitted with RoRo equipment – four pairs of heavy-duty lashing rings – for accompanied marine and ferry transport. For fast and convenient coupling, the Mega trailers are also fitted with Kögel's Duo-Matic system in addition to the standard coupling heads.
