Kögel Trailer showcased its electric trucks as it hosted the most recent leg of the eTruck Tour Germany 2026 (ETG) at its main plant in Burtenbach, Bavaria.
Kögel, together with truck manufacturers Scania, MAN and Daimler, demonstrated that electric long-distance transport is a reality on German motorways.
“As Kögel Trailer GmbH, we are proud to be part of this tour – organised by the trade magazine Truck & Trailer Welt – and to make an active contribution with our optimised trailers,” Kǒgel Trailer said.
“Because real efficiency is not only created by the drive of the truck – but also by the perfectly coordinated interaction between truck and (axle load-optimised) trailer.
“Our e-optimised Kögel Light Plus proves the potential of trailer concepts that are consistently designed for e-mobility.”
ETG organiser, Truck & Trailer Welt magazine, said that at the half-way of ETG 2026 proved that “it is already clear that the future of long-distance transport is no longer a vision, but a reality on Germany’s roads”.
“Our drivers experience every day how powerful modern e-trucks have become. Whether it’s long stages, challenging topography or the interaction with the e-optimised Kögel Light Plus – the impressions along the route are consistently impressive,” the magazine said.
The magazine said it was “particularly exciting” to see “the direct comparison of the different concepts from Mercedes-Benz, MAN and Scania under identical conditions”.
“This is exactly what makes ETG so unique. No theory, but real practical experience from the everyday life of long-distance transport.”
Scania Trucks highlighted that the trip to Burtenbach saw the return of its Scania 40 R truck.
“Together with Daimler Truck and MAN Truck & Bus, we have shown under real conditions what battery-electric semitrailers can already do in long-distance transport today,” Scania said.
The ETG 2026 will see the electric trucks travel 1,400 kilometres through Germany in four stages. The trucks will simulate actual conditions carrying up to 74 tonnes gross combination weight.
The complete results of the ETG will be presented on 17 September at the IAA Transportation in Hanover.
