German transport refrigeration manufacturer, ECOOLTEC, is expanding its European operations, with the appointment of a Manager for the Spain region.
Ruben Climent has been appointed Sales and Service Manager for Iberia, where his initial focus will be on building the company’s service network and regional sales structures, as well as enhancing relations with Spanish truck body builders.
ECOOLTEC is keen to introduce its range of products to the Iberian Peninsula, particularly the sustainable and environmentally friendly transport refrigeration units, after establishing a foothold in the German, Austrian, Swiss, UK and Benelux markets.
ECOOLTEC CEO, Henning Altebäumer, said the expansion into Spain was a logical move.
“As a member of the European Union, Spain is also affected by the F-gas and REACH regulations, which increasingly restrict the use of F-gas refrigerants, due to their climate-damaging effects and the formation of harmful groups of perfluorinated and polyfluorinated alkyl substances, known as PFAS,” said Altebäumer.
“To ensure operational safety and low operating costs, Spanish fleet operators are also looking for alternatives to current transport refrigeration systems, almost all of which still use synthetic refrigerants for refrigeration.
“In addition, many of our customers are working internationally and have encouraged us to take the step into other European markets with them to equip their fleets there, too, as they need future-proof and sustainable transport refrigeration technology.”
Altebäumer said Climent is an experienced industry and country expert with extensive knowledge and technical expertise in the field of transport refrigeration.
Most recently, he held positions in the areas of technology and after sales at well-known manufacturers and dealers of transport refrigeration solutions, as well as at a specialist in electric-powered systems.
“I am very excited to be able to support ECOOLTEC in expanding sales and building up the service network in Spain from now on,” said Climent.
“The potential for sustainable transport refrigeration systems there is enormous. The first talks have already shown that decision-makers from the fleets want to invest in our innovative transport refrigeration units.
“There is also a great interest in ECOOLTEC among service companies and body builders.”
ECOOLTEC has developed a revolutionary generation of transport refrigeration machines for use on commercial vehicles, facilitating the operation of an F-gas-free supply chain.
The refrigeration systems can be operated electrically from the truck engine via their in-house high-performance alternator, a battery, or a separate power alternator. Therefore, they do not require an integrated diesel engine.
Unlike widely used diesel refrigeration machines, the ECOOLTEC unit produces neither local pollutant nor CO2 emissions in battery operation, and up to 98 per cent fewer emissions via the alternator drive.
The system therefore uses natural, sustainable refrigerants, rather than fluorinated refrigerants (hydrofluorocarbons), requiring 60 to 80 per cent less energy than an equivalent conventional system powered by a stand-alone diesel engine.
By using hydrocarbons, which have high energy efficiency, ECOOLTEC’s refrigeration systems have large refrigeration capacities, ideal for transporting goods in high-temperature countries, such as Spain.
