Dutch transport company, Johan van Dijk, has expanded its fleet with a combination of new truck and trailer vehicles.
Johan van Dijk, based in Aalsmeer the Netherlands, recently took delivery of the first two of five new Mercedes-Benz Actros F tractor units and two insulated trailers from Burgers Carrosserie.
The vehicles expand the family business’s modern fleet of vehicles used daily for internal transport between Royal FloraHolland’s three major locations in Aalsmeer, Rijnsburg, and Naaldwijk.
The company, which has been active in logistics for almost 100 years, now has a fleet of more than 30 tractor units – primarily Mercedes-Benz – and over 30 Burgers Carrosserie trailers.
With its expansion of Mercedes Actros F tractor units, Johan van Dijk is responding to the growth of its operations and the need for efficient and reliable transport between auction locations.
“Reliability and continuity are our top priorities,” said Johan van Dijk’s board member, Jean Paul Tates.
“With the new Actros trucks and specially insulated trailers, we can transport our flowers even better and more consistently.”
Johan van Dijk has been using Burgers Carrosserie trailers since 2011 and in its line of business, choosing insulated trailers was a well-considered decision for Johan van Dijk.
Flowers are transported after cooling and do not require active cooling during transport. Thanks to the insulation, the temperature is optimally maintained, which ensures the freshness of the flowers.
The new two-axle steered trailers are equipped with insulated panels and floors, and a sliding light and air platform at the front.
This clever design reduces stress on the cables between the tractor and trailer, resulting in less wear and tear and a longer lifespan for the connections.
With the addition of these tractors and trailers, Johan van Dijk continues to expand its fleet, allowing the company to manage more transportation jobs in-house, which not only increases flexibility but also saves costs.
