Coopers Brewery has appointed Visy Logistics as sole linehaul provider to support the South Australian brewer’s continued growth.
The partnership will see Visy Logistics manage more than 2,000 interstate freight movements annually from Adelaide to key markets including Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
Through investment in new technology, fleet assets and optimised trailer configurations, the partnership is expected to support Coopers Brewery’s existing distribution network with 6 per cent fewer truck movements each year, reducing road freight requirements while maintaining reliable supply to customers across Australia.
As part of the transition, Visy Logistics has invested in 32 new assets, including prime movers and B-double combinations, while creating 17 new roles across South Australia. The new positions include experienced linehaul drivers, administrative roles and supervisory positions.
The national linehaul solution includes modern trailer configuration to protect product quality across various weather conditions as well as 34-pallet equivalents to deliver a 6.0 per cent increase in product moved per trip.
Coopers Brewery Managing Director, Michael Shearer, said the partnership would support the company’s growing national footprint while maintaining the reliability customers expect.
“Coopers beer sales are growing right across Australia and this partnership with Visy Logistics will help ensure our product continues to reach local bottleshops, pubs, clubs and the end consumer as efficiently and reliably as possible,” said Shearer.
Visy Logistics Australia President, Wayne Boxshall, said the partnership demonstrated how innovation and investment could deliver more efficient freight outcomes for Australian manufacturers.
“Visy Logistics is excited to partner with a great Australian business built on quality, family values and generations of experience,” said Boxshall.
“By finding a way to support Coopers’ Australia-wide distribution network with fewer truck movements, we have developed a solution that takes trucks off the road, supports future growth and delivers efficiencies for an iconic Australian brand.”
