Constellation Cold Logistics is expanding one of its UK sites.
Groundwork has begun where 49,000 europallet spaces will be added to its Grimsby location’s current 17,000 europallet capacity.
The project has been driven by strong customer demand in the region from both new and existing customers who are already committed to using the expansion’s pallet positions. Construction is being supported by a £5 million grant from the UK Seafood Infrastructure Scheme.
The site will feature solar power and will be 30 per cent more energy efficient than existing cold stores, the company said.
“We’re excited to see the start of this project, given its importance for Constellation UK,” said UK Managing Director, Anthony Howard. “The expansion will help us to meet the continued demand from our customers for more storage space. The team is looking forward to the project being delivered and supporting our customers growth into the facility once it comes online.”
VP Solutions and Engineering, Robbert Jan te Raa, said the site’s construction had been carefully planned and will include new technology to enhance operational efficiency.
Constellation was recently acquired by a Swedish investment business, EQT.
