Constellation Cold Logistics has acquired Ireland’s CGI Coldstores
The acquisition is expected to bolster Constellation’s footprint in the country, enhancing its capabilities and service offerings for both existing and new customers.
“The acquisition of CGI presents an exciting opportunity for Constellation to expand our capacity in the two strategic locations in which we already operate -Dublin and Cork,” said Managing Director for Constellation UK & Ireland, Thomas Hughes. “This expansion will support export operations through Ireland’s major ports, providing our clients with enhanced service and storage capacity.”
Founded in 1998 in Dublin, Chilled Groupage International (CGI) Coldstores expanded its reach in 2002 by acquiring Nordic Coldstores in Midleton, Cork. Together, CGI’s facilities in Dublin and Cork offer a total storage capacity of 40,000 pallet positions, along with advanced blast freezing and tempering capabilities.
“The acquisition of CGI by Constellation provides an exciting opportunity for our customers and staff to benefit from an established network extending across Europe, and the enhanced efficiencies this offers to them in the distribution of Irish produce throughout the European market,” said Managing Director of CGI, Padraig O’Connell.
Constellation operates across eight European countries with a capacity of more than 1 million pallet positions.
