Thermo King is addressing the temperature-controlled transport industry’s transition to electrified solutions through a bespoke training and certification program.
It has ensured that technicians at its 77 e-workshops in the EMEA region adhere to strict standards by completing its dedicated training and certification program.
As a result, all technicians are equipped with advanced High Voltage (HV) tooling and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure safety and compliance in handling electric refrigerated transport technologies.
HV certification is vital for safety and adaptability in managing high-voltage systems. These certifications, meticulously verified by Thermo King’s internal experts, uphold the company’s comprehensive internal benchmarks.
With no single international body overseeing HV standards, Thermo King developed its own guidelines to ensure consistency across all third-party certification bodies engaged by its dealers.
This ensures regulatory compliance, accident prevention, and readiness for emerging electric technologies, offering safer operations, skilled workforce and business sustainability.
Isil Dedeoglu, Thermo King’s EMEA Vice President for Channel Excellence, Strategy and Customer Experience, said: “With an industry-leading electrified products portfolio, Thermo King is setting new standards in emissions reduction and efficiency.”
“Our vision is to have a fully decarbonised and efficient global cold chain, safely transporting precious cargo like life-saving medicines and food.
“In addition to our product innovation, we launched the high voltage certification workshop program in April 2024 to ensure our customers with electrified refrigeration fleets receive the best quality service for their systems.”
In the 18 months since the training and certification program commenced, more than 350 dealer technicians have achieved Thermo King’s HV certifications.
“Even in regions without specific legislation, our dealers and service stations adhere to our strict internal standards, guaranteeing that certified personnel maintain the highest levels of safety and quality across all markets,” said Dedeoglu.
Thermo King’s high voltage-workshops meet standardised requirements, including advanced tools like insulated hand tools and voltage testers, alongside essential PPE such as safety gloves, wearables, and barriers.
All workshops also comply with local legislation, ensuring consistent standards in high-voltage servicing.
It plans to expand its network of 77 high voltage-certified e-Workshop across the EMEA region, as it works on revolutionising how fleets use energy in transport in a bid to reduce emissions.
Electric, self-charging trailer cooling systems like the Thermo King AxlePower, next-generation battery packs and electric van and truck refrigeration units play a central role in decarbonising the transport sector and reflect Thermo King’s investment in sustainable, cutting-edge technologies.
Thermo King has over 500 service locations across 75 countries in the EMEA region, complementing its expanding network of HV certified dealers.
