Kögel Trailer is proud to announce the latest addition to its container chassis family: the Kögel Port 20.
This new model, one of the lightest 20’ chassis available, will make its debut at IAA Transportation 2024. Weighing in at just 2,900 kilograms, the three-axle Kögel Port 20 sets new industry standards with optimal fifth wheel load distribution and a range of versatile equipment options.
Responding to market growth
The demand for efficient container transport solutions continues to rise. In 2023, the Port of Hamburg alone handled 7.7 million TEUs (Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units), as reported by Hafen Hamburg und Logistik AG. The introduction of the Kögel Port 20 comes at a crucial time, offering an excellent alternative for businesses involved in container transport and supporting their operations with enhanced efficiency.
Superior load distribution for improved stability
With a low unladen weight starting at approximately 2,900kg, the Kögel Port 20 easily accommodates even very heavy 20’ containers. The chassis features a rear-shifted wheelbase, enhancing fifth wheel load and positively impacting driving stability. Additionally, an optional second loading position is available for cross-border transport, increasing load distribution to 30 per cent fifth wheel load. This configuration also supports the transport of swap bodies (C715 and C745). Denninghaus GmbH & Co. KG, a transport company specializing in container transport, is the first to test the vehicle in close collaboration with Kögel.
Innovative features for increased efficiency
The Kögel Port 20 offers several optional features to boost operational efficiency. These include a rear ladder for easy container access, an optimized rear design for better protection of light carriers, and an integrated rear toolbox for added convenience.
Sustainability and proven quality
The lightweight design of the Kögel Port 20 contributes to reduced fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. Built on Kögel’s proven chassis designs, this new model upholds the company’s reputation for quality and reliability. Looking ahead, Kögel plans to launch an even lighter two-axle version of the 20 foot chassis in 2025, based on the three-axle Kögel Port 20.
Kögel will be at IAA Transportation 2024, Hall 27, F14.
