GLS Group divesting US freight divisions

European parcel service provider, GLS Group, has announced the sale of GLS US Freight Inc. and GLS US Business Solutions Inc.

In a move that will allow the company to focus on expanding its core parcel operations, GLS will hand over its US freight division to California-based trucking and warehousing company, DC Logistics.

The transaction is consistent with the GLS US strategy to reinforce its position as the preferred parcel delivery provider for US customers, the company said. Freight services provided in other markets where GLS operates, will be unaffected.

“This sale marks an exciting milestone for GLS as we focus on expanding our core US domestic and international parcel offerings,” said Chief International Officer, GLS Group, Saadi Al-Soudani. “The GLS commitment remains to provide its parcel customers with exceptional quality and service as well as grow GLS US as a leading parcel delivery service provider in the American market.”

The sale of the GLS US freight division is set to officially close on September 1, 2024, subject to customary closing conditions. Both GLS and DC Logistics said they will collaborate to ensure a seamless transition for US freight clients and employees.

“This is a significant step to accelerate our journey to become a Top 20 LTL carrier in the United States and it will enhance our value proposition to our customers while positioning our company and our employees for new levels of success,” said DC Logistics CEO, Judas Castro. “We intend to revive the Mountain Valley Express brand known for its history of excellence in customer service.”
