Rhenus to help IKEA’s Indian deliveries

Logistics company, Rhenus Group, has agreed to support IKEA’s e-commerce expansion in India.

Rhenus will provide the Swedish home furnisher tailor-made warehouse logistics, designed specifically for its business model. The warehouse is expected to store and fulfil doorstep deliveries of more than 7,000 IKEA products to households in Northern India.

The two companies have a long-standing partnership, which began in Europe

“As we expand our partnership from a European base to a global scale, our journey with IKEA is a testament to our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and sustainability,” said Rhenus India Regional CEO, Vivek Arya. “This new warehousing project in India is an expansion of our operations and a bold step towards a more inclusive and diverse global presence.”

India is currently the world’s fourth largest furniture market. The Delhi National Capital Region, which is experiencing demand for high-end real estate, is primed for supply chain solutions, to help IKEA’s challenge of fulfilling online orders within 24 hours.

The 13,935 square-metre warehousing facility is located in Gurugam and well connected to the region’s rail, road and air channels.

“Our partnership with Rhenus transcends decades,” said Ikea Country Customer Fulfilment Manager, Saiba Suri. “Bringing their expertise and experience in growing IKEA in other global markets to our operations here is an exciting opportunity.”
