Scan Global Logistics makes its first foray into Italy

Scan Global Logistics (SGL) has acquired Italian freight forwarder, Foppiani Shipping & Logistics.

This latest purchase follows the company’s rapid expansion in Europe over the past few years, with recent entries into Portugal, Romania, Switzerland and Ukraine.

“Italy has been a priority for SGL for some time, and we are thrilled to welcome Foppiani to the family,” said Scan Global CEO, Allan Melgaard. “Italy represents tremendous opportunity in several sectors, and we firmly believe that Foppiani is the right platform to further grow our business, both with existing and new customers.’

Based in Prato, Foppiani was founded in 2007 and focuses on customers in fashion and retail, automotive and a variety of other sectors. Employing more than 160 people, it generates yearly revenue of  €115 million and has multiple locations in Italy as well as subsidiaries in Asia and USA.

In other news, vehicle component manufacturer, ZF, has appointed a new President for its North America unit.
