H. Essers expands in France with acquisition

Logistics service provider H.Essers has purchased French transport company TFMO (Transports Frigorifiques des Monts d’Or)

Based near Lyon, TFMO specialises in temperature-controlled transport for the healthcare and food sectors.

The acquisition aligns with H.Essers’ growth strategy, enabling it to expand in France by partnering with an established local market player. It also fits the company’s asset-based approach, as it invests further in people and equipment to increase capacity.

“We are very excited to welcome the TFMO team to the H.Essers family,” said COO Transport at H.Essers, Christopher Van den Daele. “The company’s expertise and strong local network will not only strengthen our position in the French market but also significantly enhance our capacity to offer high-quality temperature-controlled transport. This acquisition also opens the door to exciting opportunities, such as the addition of our own healthcare crossdock and the expansion of our LTL concept.”

TFMO is currently led by Franck Guerpillon, the second generation of the family business. It has a team of approximately 200 employees and a fleet of 152 own vehicles.

“We are confident that the shared values and complementary expertise of both organisations will lead to a successful future for TFMO and its employees,” said Guerpillon. “Our customers can also benefit from the added experience and capacity of this internationally renowned logistics player. This acquisition brings numerous significant advantages for H.Essers, our employees and our customers.”
