SAF-Holland is honouring a founding family member’s 80th birthday.
Ulrich Otto Sauer was the fourth generation to run the family business, SAF (Sauer Achsenfabrik), and helped develop it into a global manufacturer of chassis-related components for trailers and trucks.
The son of Roman Sauer, Ulrich was born in 1943 in Aschaffenburg, Germany. He took over the Otto Sauer axle factory – a company that his great-grandfather founded as a blacksmith’s shop – at the beginning of the 1970s, after studying mechanical engineering and business administration.
As a passionate entrepreneur with vision, Ulrich Sauer took the reins of the family company and pushed it internationally. Under his management, SAF, later SAF-Holland, grew to €1 billion in sales with over 3000 employees worldwide.
In other news, Swiss transport and logistics company, Friderici Holding, announced it has acquired the Gattoni Garage in Monthey, Switzerland.
