International transport and logistics service provider, Gebrüder Weiss, has taken over Rentschler Transport + Logistik which is based in Altensteig, Baden-Württemberg.
Effective 1 January 2023, the company completed a 100 per cent takeover with 80 employees joining the business.
“Rentschler’s scope of services and location offer ideal conditions for the network enhancement we are pursuing in Southern Germany,” said Gebrüder Weiss Managing Director Land Transport Germany, Werner Dettenthaler.
“In the triangle formed by our Aldingen and Esslingen branches in Baden-Württemberg, in particular, shippers from industry and commerce will benefit from bundling effects for transports.”
Rentschler Transport + Logistik Managing Director, Andreas Rentschler, said: “Under the umbrella of Gebrüder Weiss, our growth perspectives and development opportunities are expanding. This strategic step gives our customers access to a broader range of services as well as connections to the global network of an established full-service logistics expert.”
Rentschler Transport + Logistik, which was founded in 1948, specialised in groupage freight, partial and full load transports in Baden-Württemberg and operates a logistics terminal in Altensteig.
This acquisition is another step in the growth strategy for the transport and logistics company in Southern Germany. The Altensteig location, 60 kilometres south of Stuttgart, complements Gebrüder Weiss’ existing Southern German land transport locations in Esslingen, Aldingen, Lindau, Memmingen, Nuremberg, Straubing, Waldkraiburg and Passau.
