SAF-Holland continues partnership for TRAKr axle

Equipment specialist, SAF-Holland, is collaborating with cold chain solutions provider, Carrier Transicold, on the development of its SAF TRAKr recuperation axle.

SAF-Holland brought Carrier Transicold on board as a partner in 2020 to ensure optimum performance of the e-trailer axle by combining expertise in the areas of development, technology, approval, customer support and service.

Carrier Transicold supplies the recovery system for SAF-Holland’s e-axle, which includes battery packs, control systems and cooling units.

SAF-Holland President Europe, Middle East and Africa and Chief Technology Officer, Christoph Günter, said the relationship between both companies has already brought results.

“We have a very close and dynamic partnership and look with pride at the results of our cooperation so far – the SAF TRAKr has achieved very good results during the multi-year test phase and is now ready for series production,” he said.

Both companies have also already made plans for the future – to provide customers operating with heavy-duty trailers with a complete, 100 per cent electric system with a plug and play solution in the long term.

Carrier Transicold President International Truck & Trailer, Victor Calvo, said benefits from the collaboration will also apply to its customers.

“This partnership between two leading companies in the industry results in a high-performance and reliable solution that will offer a wider choice for our customers,” he said.

“We believe connecting the SAF TRAKr recuperation system to our Vector eCool will strengthen our position as pioneer in ultra-low-emission trailer refrigeration, with a solution that offers au- tonomous power, no direct emissions, and quiet operations.”
