Nowadays, Brianza Plastica is one of the few companies worldwide which produces flat laminates using two production technologies: continuous hot laminating and discontinuous cold laminating.
All the products are entirely made in Italy in the Company’s five production sites.
Brianza Plastica produces Elyplan sheets and rolls in continuous in the headquarters of Carate Brianza; it manufactures Elycold fiberglass laminates in discontinuous in the two facilities of San Martino di Venezze (Rovigo) as well as Ostellato (Ferrara).
Among the two ranges, the Elycold GRP laminates have the best aesthetic appearance, while Elyplan offer a good quality/price ratio.
Even though Elycold and Elyplan ranges have specific peculiarities, they have the following common characteristics: they are light and waterproofing, hail and UV resistant, with a low thermal expansion coefficient, strong corrosion and high impact resistant.
Over the years, Brianza Plastica never stopped its production and constant research and implementation on products, expanding its range and finishes of flat and curved sheets and rolls, for a wide variety of applications in multiple fields, such as commercial and industrial sectors, as well as commercial vehicles (trucks and buses) and recreational vehicles (campers and caravans).
This year marks a special achievement for Brianza Plastica: 60 years ago Giuseppe Crippa established the Company and he’s still the President of the business.
The efforts and knowledge of the founder, together with his staff, projected the Company into the international and diversified market of fibreglass laminates for industrial and commercial sectors.
Careful studies and research have lead the Company to launch this year new products on the market, celebrating its 60th anniversary of activity.
Elycold GRP laminates are a combination of polyester resin (orthophthalic and isophthalic) and glass fibre. Their polymerisation process at ambient temperature provides perfect flatness, optimum aesthetic finishing and excellent long-term properties. The Elycold range includes: Elycold STD, Elycold Lite and the newborn Elycold Velo and Elycold Extra-glass.
Elycold STD laminates have the polymerisation process at ambient temperature. The result is perfect flatness, which is an indispensable feature for the production of very high quality panel, with very good aesthetics.
The excellent dimensional stability of Elycold STD laminates is guaranteed by the use of fibreglass chopped strand mat, which can be combined with woven roving reinforcement, to further improve the mechanical features of the GRP laminate.
Elycold Lite represents the ideal solution for those who need a thicker laminate with good rigidity and low specific weight, while retaining all aesthetic details and values. The use of resins and specific microspheres allows increased thickness, without adding weight, decreasing the density of the laminate and providing greater rigidity, contributing to the flatness of the panel and to conceal the underlying structures. It is particularly suitable for the production of ultra-light vans, large recreational vehicles and prestigious equestrian vehicles.
Elycold Lite maintains unaltered the performances of Brianza Plastica’s laminates, such as:
- gelcoat resistant to UV rays and to chemical agents;
- availability in different colours;
- mechanical performances suitable for different uses.
Elycold Lite is available in sheets and 60m-long rolls and in different thicknesses, from 1.6mm.
The new Elycold Velo is realised with UV-stabilised orthophtalic polyester resin, reinforced with fiberglass; available both in rolls and sheets, the Elycold Velo GRP laminates resist to chemical agents, are waterproofing and easy to wash.
Elycold Velo fibreglass laminates are supplied without gelcoat: this characteristic is extremely important since gelcoat is an expensive material, whose addition increases the weight of the laminate and hence contributes to influence the weight of the final vehicle.
Elycold Velo fiberglass laminates are available in different thicknesses, from 0.9 to 1.4 mm, and weights from 300gm to 600gm.
As glass composition, Elycold Velo laminates use only mat + tissue, in order to provide better aesthetic performance.
The mat gives all the physical characteristics to the laminate, ensuring a perfect smooth surface on the outer side; Brianza Plastica offers different weights of mat into the laminate, giving hence the possibility to satisfy all the market requirements. The tissue, instead, is a thin layer of fiberglass which increases the aesthetic quality of the material.
As far as the application is concerned, the entire range of Elycold Velo laminates is particularly suitable for public transport vehicles and electric vehicles, both in interior roofs and walls, or where a gelcoat protected material is not necessary.
The new Elycold Extra-Glass is available in rolls and sheets with gelcoat and with increased mechanical performances. This product is the result of synergies between different chemical and technical departments, aimed at meeting the ever-increasing market demands for more effective materials.
Elycold Extra-Glass is designed to bring together very special characteristics in a single product, such as lightness, given by low specific weight, and high mechanical strength, coming from the high percentage of glass content.
Elycold Extra-Glass is suitable for vehicles that require high impact resistance, weight saving and high aesthetics.
On the other side, Elyplan, rolls and sheets produced by continuous lamination, with its flexibility allows customer to choose the laminate best suited to their needs, for every application in temperature-controlled transport services, vans, restoration of walls, coolers and special applications. Basically, it is ideal for applications that require washable surfaces, smooth or rough, with high resistance to corrosive elements present in the environment.
The main advantage of continuous production is that it allows achieving the highest possible polymerisation of the composite material, coming from the use of technologies that best maximise this value. The result is a perfectly flat product, with very tight dimensional tolerances that guarantees excellent quality at competitive prices.
Meanwhile, Elyplan Design 3D is an extremely ‘time saving’ innovation: compared to the current systems that use wood panels together with decorative paper, Elyplan Design 3D is a ready-to-install GRP laminate, which gives to the customer the advantage of a quicker installation.
Elyplan Design 3D, together with others new products, will be introduced during IAA Transportation exhibition in Hannover from 20-25 September.
