SGL acquires Gelders Forwarding and Advection Logistics

Global logistics provider, Scan Global Logistics (SGL), has announced its acquisition of Gelders Forwarding and Advection Logistics.

SGL has increased its European network by acquiring Gelders Forwarding, an air an ocean forwarder, which is expected to significantly scale SGL’s airfreight services and enhance its presence in the technology sector.

Advection Logistics, a full-service logistics provider, will transform into the first SGL office in Hungary while providing a platform for growth in the region.

The signings follow SGL’s ambitious growth and acquisition plan, which so far counts eight acquisitions.

Group CEO, Allan Melgaard, said matching company DNAs are pivotal to a SGL acquisition.

“Ensuring a strong cultural fit is central to our acquisition strategy allowing for effectivity, commercial synergies, and an easy integration to unfold,” he said.

Advection Managing Director, Izabella Szőcs, agreed on the significance of a similar mindset as the company joined the SGL family.

“Our companies’ cultural DNAs, customer-centric and entrepreneurial approach match SGL perfectly,” she said.

“Becoming one allows us to substantially benefit from our combined expertise and capabilities to offer improved and extended services to our customers.

“We look forward to developing our future business together.”
