Gebrüder Weiss receives gold sustainability award

European transport and logistics company, Gebrüder Weiss (GW), has received a gold award for sustainable building.

The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) awarded a gold certificate to the GW logistics centre in Kalsdorf bei Graz, Austria, for its resource-saving and eco-friendly building and operating concept.

Ecological, economic, social aspects and technical features were all taken into account during the evaluation, which awarded the company with the achievement.

“This certification is the best proof that integral sustainability requirements have been implemented in the project with success,” said DGNB Managing Director, Johannes Kreißig.

GW CEO, Wolfram Senger-Weiss, said the group plans to obtain certification for other facilities in the near future as well.

“The standards implemented in Graz allow us to set a group-wide quality benchmark for sustainable building at Gebrüder Weiss,” he said.

“An ideal working environment for our employees is just as important to us as is resource-saving construction and state-of-the-art energy management, which optimises energy consumption and reduces operating costs.”

In other news, Gebrüder Weiss, and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics have reflected on 45 years of business together.
