Expect Distribution modernises fleet with SDC curtainsiders

UK-based transport and warehousing specialist, Expect Distribution, has added 36 new curtainsiders to its fleet via an arrangement with TIP.

The new trailers were manufactured by SDC and will be supported for maintenance and repair by the Nelson, Lancashire, TIP branch.

The agreement between Expect Distribution and TIP includes the TIP Insight telematics solution, covering trailer tracking and BrakePlus Electronic Braking Performance Monitoring System (EBPMS).

“Over the last five years TIP has clearly demonstrated its commitment to our business through excellent communication and most importantly, by bringing problem solving to the table,” said Expect Distribution Sales & Marketing Manager, Gemma Lennon.

“The partnership has not looked back since it first started, leading up to this latest fleet upgrade where we worked closely with TIP on developing bespoke solutions for our individual customers.

“With TIP, we get the whole package from developing bespoke, added-value trailers, through to incorporating the very latest telematics technologies, monthly ‘KPI’ reviews and, of course, a close working relationship with our account manager and the operations team at TIP Nelson.”

TIP currently has 65 curtainsider and ‘pharma’ spec reefer trailers operating within the Expect business on a variety of contract and spot rental agreements. The addition of the 36 SDC trailers is part of Expect’s latest planned upgrade to its ever growing trailer fleet.

The latest additions to the fleet are all curtainsiders, some of which are supplied with double skinned reinforced floors for extra durability, some are fitted with Dhollandia tuckaway tail lifts and some are double deck, both straight-framed and step-framed, all to meet the operational requirements of Expect’s customers.

As part of the agreement, TIP has specified its TIP Insight telematics package on all the new trailers, complete with a bespoke security installation. As well as providing fleet tracking information, the system will also help Expect Distribution to reduce costs associated with regular roller brake testing, since it includes access to TIP’s BrakePlus EBPMS for continuous brake performance monitoring.

The new trailers will be principally working out of Expect Distribution’s main two sites in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Expect Distribution has grown significantly in recent times, now operating out of three depots in the Bradford area with exciting new expansion plans following its recent MBO.

“Our first involvement with Expect Distribution five years ago involved refurbishing existing trailers for continued use in their fleet and the relationship between the two companies has developed rapidly since then,” said TIP Trailer Services UK&I Managing Director, Mike Furnival.

“Working with them on the latest fleet upgrade has enabled us to demonstrate our flexibility in developing solutions for their customers operating requirements as part of our close day-to-day working partnership.”

In other news, TIP is paving the way to sustainability.
