Pfenning Logistics taps pharma expert

German contract logistics provider, Pfenning Logistics, has appointed Torsten Riotte as Head of Strategic Business Development France.

Riotte will support the business’ cross-border storage and transport operations in the tri-national border region of Alsace and expand the service portfolio to include new target industries.

As Division Manager for strategic business development in France, Riotte will expand the business from southern Germany to France, to Switzerland and towards the southern Iberian peninsula.

Prior to joining Pfenning Logistics in September, Riotte has held other roles, most notably three years as Managing Director of a freight forwarding company and more recently a branch manager for Kirchhofen Pharma.

In his new range of tasks, Riotte will primarily contribute his expertise in the field of high-value logistics and pharmaceutical logistics. These special fields of logistics require extensive know-how as well as compliance with special quality assurance standards.

“Logistics as a professional field offers challenges every day that you can grow with,” said Riotte.

“I am very much looking forward to my new responsibility and thank Pfenning Logistics for the trust placed in me to lead this strategically important area.

“I hope, through my logistics expertise for particularly sensitive and valuable goods, to be able to make a positive contribution to the strategic expansion of business areas at pfenning logistics.”

Rana Matthias Nag, Managing Director at Pfenning Logistics, emphasised the importance of the new addition for the sales strategy.

“We have put our sales processes to the test and have consistently achieved efficiency gains as well as deepening the quality of our services and adapting them to specific customer needs,” he said. “With Torsten Riotte, we now have an experienced logistics professional on board who is very familiar with the requirements of potential customers in demanding industries and who will provide valuable impetus for our expansion strategy.”

The company, which employs 3,700 people at 100 locations in Germany, Poland, Hungary and Sweden, is based in Heddesheim / Baden-Württemberg.
