Software provider bolsters IRU’s paperless strategy

French firm, AKANEA, has joined the International Road Transport Union (IRU) to drive digital best practice in global supply chains.

Founded more than 30 years ago, AKANEA is an IT services company that develops software and solutions for the international transport, logistics, customs and agri-food sectors.

The company aims to use its new IRU membership to share digital best practice globally in logistics, supply chain management and trade facilitation, promoting innovation across the sectors it works in.

A subsidiary of French group, ISAGRI, a leader in agricultural software and media, AKANEA provides solutions for sales, operational, document and financial management. It is also notable for its expertise in French and European customs processes and systems.

AKANEA has seven offices in France, Poland, Tunisia and Morocco, with more than 240 employees, supporting more than 1,600 clients and partners worldwide.

“We warmly welcome the AKANEA team into the IRU family and look forward to working together,” said IRU.

IRU advocates the digital global transit system ‘TIR’ which is reported to streamline procedures at borders, reducing the administrative burden for customs authorities and for transport and logistics companies.

Last year, TIR improved India-Iran-Afghanistan intermodal trade.
