Aramex names new CCO

Former DHL executive joins Aramex's senior leadership team.

Dubai-based logistics company, Aramex, has announced the appointment of a new Chief Operating Officer.

Thomas Kipp, who brings more than 25 years of experience across logistics, e-commerce and management consulting in Europe, Asia and North America, has been named as Aramex’s new CCO.

As part of the senior leadership team, Kipp will be responsible for overseeing Aramex’s global operations, business development, improving operational efficiencies and championing crucial process improvements, in line with the company’s long-term growth strategy.

Kipp joins Aramex after spending nearly 15 years with Deutsche Post DHL Group (DPDHL), where most recently, he served as the Executive Vice President for Corporate Incubations and led the development of new business models outside the company’s core business. Prior to this role, he was the Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development for Post, e-Commerce and Parcel (PeP), where he managed strategic projects, developed and implemented technology-based process improvements and managed the brand.

In addition, he also held CEO positions across the company’s e-Commerce and Global Mail divisions. Prior to that, Kipp held senior leadership roles in global organisations, including Monitor Deloitte and BMW Group.

“I am pleased to welcome Thomas to our leadership team,” said Aramex CEO, Bashar Obeid.

“I strongly believe that his wealth of experience and proven track record of entrepreneurial leadership, commercial acumen, and unparalleled client management will be instrumental in successfully executing our strategic vision.

“Thomas complements our strong people and performance-driven culture and will build on our continued success, driving Aramex’s position as a leading industry player in its core markets,” he said.

Over the course of the year, Aramex has experienced a surge in e-commerce activities resulting from increased online shopping during Covid-19 related lockdowns.

In response to the robust demand, the company reportedly ramped up on the ground operations through increased recruitment, as well as investments in expanding its fleet, warehousing facilities, and related infrastructure.

Aramex also continues to capitalise on its innovative crowd sourcing solution, Aramex Fleet, and digitally enabled solutions including Aramex Spot as part of the company’s commitment to strengthen its last mile capabilities.
