Krone supports #Logistikhilft initiative

German OEM, Krone, is supporting #Logistikhilft (translation: #logisticshelps) – a joint initiative to support all those involved in transport and logistics operations and thus ensure the supply of goods to society and the economy.

Patrons of the initiative are Federal Minister, Andreas Scheuer, and the Federal Government's Coordinator for Freight Transport and Logistics, Parliamentary State Secretary, Steffen Bilger. #Logistikhilft sees itself as an open platform for all suppliers and demanders of transport and logistics services, which on the one hand promotes existing relief actions and on the other hand creates new actions. In addition, there is a common basic understanding that #Logistikhilft is not a one-off action, but should continue to offer support to those who need it.

The first actions of this initiative were the construction and installation of two sanitary containers for truck drivers in Großbeeren (Brandenburg) and on the BAB A 8 in the Stuttgart area. With these actions, the initiative points out the special challenges in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Krone said there are many truck drivers who are currently also on duty on Sundays who are dependent on uninterrupted access to sanitary facilities (showers and WCs). This is particularly true at loading and unloading points, in transhipment facilities and logistics centres, at car parks, car parks, and at filling stations and rest areas.

“Since the outbreak of the corona pandemic, it has become abundantly clear that the basic supply of the population cannot function without agriculture and transport,” said Krone Managing Director Sales & Marketing, Dr Frank Albers.

“Krone has been active in the agricultural engineering and transport sectors for almost 120 years now; this is why this campaign is particularly close to our hearts – because now every consumer understands how systemically relevant the logistics sector and the transport of goods are.

“We have been supporting numerous projects that make the everyday life of truck drivers easier for decades.

“In addition, the so-called 'Drivers Points' have also been in place at Krone locations since 1999; here we offer truckers clean sanitary facilities and a cosy lounge with TV and kitchen where they can warm up a meal, for example, not only during Corona times but also 7 days a week, around the clock. These measures complement on a large scale the many smaller, great relief actions that are currently taking place everywhere and which we also support. DocStop, for example, is doing an excellent job in looking after the drivers at the rest areas. Krone provides disinfectant in spray bottles, which DocStop distributes to the drivers,” he said.

In addition to Krone, the initiative is also supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), Federal Association of Road Haulage Logistics and Waste Disposal (BGL), Logistics Alliance Germany (LAG), Fraunhofer IML and the non-profit association DocStop / SaniStop.

In other news, Krone was awarded for 'best logistics brand for trailers and bodies'.
