American Trailer Rental Group acquires Advantage Trailer Leasing

American Trailer Rental Group (ATRG) has completed the acquisition of Advantage Trailer Leasing based in Dallas, Texas, with operations in Houston, San Antonio, Austin and Longview.

ATRG is a family of companies with a rental fleet approaching 10,000 units representing various regional trailer rental providers in the US.

ATRG operates under the Meisler Trailer Rental (Meisler), Fleet Trailer Rental (Fleet) and First in Trailer Service (FITS) brands with operations in Louisville, KY, Evansville IN, Memphis, Nashville, TN, Walton, KY, Cincinnati, OH and Kansas City, KS.

“Thanks to the ongoing support of our equity sponsor, Milton Street Capital  and the outstanding work of our associates we are pursuing an aggressive growth strategy that is rooted in both acquisitions and greenfield pursuits,” said ATRG CEO, John Brooks.

This acquisition is reported to be the fourth since Milton Street's formation of the ATRG in June 2017. This transaction, coupled with ATRG's greenfield initiatives, brings the group's total number of rental locations to 10 – while the rental fleet is now approaching 13,000 units.

“With the acquisition of Advantage, we continue our quest to be the provider of choice serving blue chip customers across a multitude of geographies and industries with high quality storage, cartage and over the road trailers as well as other portable storage options,” said Brooks.

“We are excited to join the Texas business community and its vibrant economy. Texas is an excellent location for our continued growth due to its importance to our existing customer base and our nation's economy.

“Richard and Garrett Vilven, along with the team at Advantage, have built a well-respected trailer provider serving some of Texas's best manufacturers, warehouse operators, distributors and logistics companies. Their “customer first” focus dovetails naturally into our culture at ATRG.

“Following this acquisition, our customers now have access to our fleet approaching 13,000 units as well as a network of highly skilled mechanics and drivers,” he said.

“We at Advantage are excited to join the ATRG family,” said Richard Vilven, CEO Advantage Trailer LLC and now Board Member ATRG.

“My brother Garrett and I were impressed with the vision and execution of the team at ATRG. We are looking forward to actively helping ATRG continue to grow,” he said.

“We can't say enough about how excited we are to be welcomed into the ATRG family,” said Garrett Vilven, Shareholder Advantage Trailer, LLC and now VP of Container Operations ATRG.

“As business owners with over 35 years' experience in the trailer leasing business, Richard and I were delighted to find a group that allows us to maintain operations independently, retain all of our employees and continue the excellent service that has been a vital part of making us who we are today.

“As part of the ATRG family we are better capitalised, have greater access to high quality equipment and a larger customer base to serve.”
