Elflein adds 88 Kögel two-axle Mega semi-trailers to its fleet

Elflein Spedition & Transport, which is based in Bamberg, Germany, is expanding its fleet with 88 Kögel Mega semi-trailers of the NOVUM generation.

In future, the company will use the new semi-trailers for customers from the most varied of industries, such as the automotive just-in-time sector and the paper and printing industry.

Elflein provides professional services in transport, general cargo (JIT/JIS), and warehousing and logistics, as well as the outsourcing of transport and storage services. With more than 1,400 employees, 1,450 transports a day and a correspondingly large storage area, Elflein is well-known in the sector. Elflein is acquiring the new Kögel semi-trailers from Leckert Fahrzeughandel, Kögel's authorised dealer in northern Bavaria and southern Hesse.

Kögel's two-axle volume semi-trailers, which are ideal for deliveries in the automotive sector, are fitted with a reinforced chassis for 10-tonne axles. As a result, Elflein benefits from a lower tare weight, smoother running due to the greater distance between axles of 1,810 millimetres, and lower operating and fuel costs. The loading and unloading of three stacked pallet cages is simple, with a clear internal height of three metres and the standard mechanical-hydraulic lifting roof. This increases the lateral loading height at the front by 600 millimetres and at the rear by 600 millimetres to over three metres.

In addition to the well-known advantages of the NOVUM generation – such as the new air and lighting console on the front wall, which transfers the forces into the frame via the side members, and the new external frame profile, which greatly increases the accessibility of the VarioFix lashing points, as well as the variable lattice pockets – the Kögel Mega semi-trailers have extensive standard equipment. The 13 pairs of lashing shackles, included as standard, are available with grip hooks at the sides for easier handling and have a tensile force of 2,500 kilograms. Mega-trailers are, of course, certified in accordance with DIN EN 12642 Code XL. For use in the automotive sector, the Mega semi-trailer, combined with the necessary customised equipment, such as a pallet stop and a double front wall bulkhead, meets the requirements of the Daimler Guideline 9.5 for load securing.

The semi-trailers also feature the Kögel Strong & Go body. This comprises an innovative NOVUM generation body combined with a Kögel integral roof tarpaulin, reinforced with stiffening belts. As a result of this solution, lattices are no longer required to comply with DIN EN 12642 Code XL and Daimler Guideline 9.5 for the transport of pallet cages and strapped loads. Further customised equipment includes an axle lift for the second axle, toolboxes, LED peripheral lights, LED multi-chamber lights, a load-securing package for 32 lattices.

On the 88 Kögel trailers, the entire vehicle frame is given long-lasting protection against corrosion by nano ceramic technology and cathodic dip-paint coating, supplemented with a coat of UV varnish.
