Schmitz Cargobull offers multifunctional logistics with optimised rigids

German OEM, Schmitz Cargobull, has released details on a high-volume rigid truck with drawbar trailer spec’d with a MEGA body system and Power Curtain tarpaulin.

The MEGA versions of the M.CS rigid truck curtainsider and Z.CS central axle curtainsider drawbar trailer are reported to offer up to 500 kilograms extra payload. In addition, the trailer is now also available with the lath-free Power Curtain tarpaulin. The through-loading trailer has also been optimised.

The M.CS/Z.CS rigid trucks and drawbar trailers offer an outstanding price/performance ratio, according to Schmitz Cargobull, as a result of the synergies generated from using numerous proven body components derived from the S.CS curtainsider semi-trailer. The new MEGA body also matches the curtainsider semi-trailer in appearance and the same spare parts can be used whenever they are needed.

“In the transport of palletised freight or packaged goods, the combination of M.CS and Z.CS impresses with a high loading volume, combined with manoeuvrability when operating on narrow roads and urban centres,” said Schmitz Cargobull. “Just like the curtainsider semi-trailer version, the truck body is equipped with a lifting roof with a manual stanchion lifter. The required body heights can be gradually adjusted easily. The simple and robust mechanism allows for light, safe and speedy handling. The required loading capacity can thus be adjusted as needed. The full-length lashing holes in the outer frame present various and flexible lashing options for every usage scenario. The proven Schmitz Cargobull safety roof is now also available on the M.CS/Z.CS. The fibre-reinforced roof tarpaulin does not need any reinforcing wire ropes or belt loops in the trailer interior.”

The high body strength has been certified as standard in accordance with DIN EN 12642 Code XL according to the OEM.

The high-volume rigid truck and drawbar trailer combination reportedly offers space for up to 38 Euro pallets. Its range of load securing options is demonstrated by the optional certificates available for Daimler 9.5, VDI 2700 (beverages) or tyre transportation.

The Power Curtain body by Schmitz Cargobull is reported to meet the requirements for efficiency and turnover speed. The certified structural rigidity (according to DIN EN 12642 Code XL) is achieved even without support laths due to vertical and horizontal reinforcements and a standard anti-theft protection fabric.

“Customers benefit from quicker loading and unloading without time-consuming handling and climbing to secure the load,” said Schmitz Cargobull. “Consequently, transport efficiency and occupational safety are increased, and the driver is able to continue their journey more quickly and further optimise the transport process.”

The OEM claims the new M.CS/Z.CS modular system is beneficial for customers who rely on rear-based loading and unloading processes.

“The through-loading width has been enhanced and the MEGA body system has been adjusted,” said Schmitz Cargobull.

“The internal spring-supported bridge spans almost the entire width of the body, which means unobstructed through-loading. Thanks to the bridge’s space-saving design, no pallet spaces are lost and all 38 are preserved in the complete road train.

“For several years now, Schmitz Cargobull’s portfolio has expanded to produce industry-specific solutions for use on chassis from all major truck manufacturers. Whereas in the past the focus was on semi-trailers for bulk material, temperature-controlled freight and palletised goods or packaged goods for long-distance haulage, now carefully planned body solutions for rigid trucks are also on offer. All bodies are manufactured in line with Schmitz Cargobull’s well-known strict industrial quality standards.”
