Giti launches TPMS for commercial fleets

Singapore-based tyre supplier, Giti Tire, is launching its first Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for commercial vehicles, which was first announced at the CV Show in Birmingham, UK.

Giti Fleet SMART reportedly allows fleet owners and operators to continually monitor and analyse its fleets' tyres and will be available for Giti fleet members in the EU market.

Information about maintenance and other data is gathered instantly and electronically by the new TPMS, according to Giti, which is then able to predict and prevent potential tyre failures.

If any loss in tyre pressure is detected, SMART immediately sends notifications to the driver and the fleet’s base. The fleet is then able to analyse and address the situation, including contacting their nearest Giti dealer or using the GitiAssist roadside program.

Giti said the system makes fleets more efficient, reduces downtime and is cost effective.

At the CV Show, the Giti team demonstrated the new TPMS to both new and existing customers, and reportedly received great feedback about how it can benefit fleet operators both from an operational and financial perspective.

Commenting on the new TPMS, Tony McHugh, TBR Sales and Marketing Director UK at Giti Tire, described how the TPMS will be an essential component of the company’s effort to minimise roadside breakdowns, through immediately notifying both the driver and the workshop of pressure loss, and offering steps to take remedial action without disruption in services.
