SDC Trailers enhances EP Barrus’ delivery operations

EP Barrus has chosen SDC Trailers for its ongoing fleet expansion, enhancing the company’s extensive door-to-door distribution service to customers throughout the UK and Ireland.

The order features curtain-side, step-frame boxvan and GRP boxvan trailers with bespoke livery to represent brands from Barrus’s portfolio in the garden, marine and industrial engine sectors.

Representing over 40 leading brands in the UK, Barrus’ new trailer fleet will be used to fulfil customer deliveries from marine and boat engines, to ride on lawnmowers, garden tractors and quad bikes.

The straight-frame curtain-side trailers feature a bespoke length and height to suit Barrus’ requirements, with a fork truck rear end for ease of loading/ offloading. The curtainsiders are built to EN 12642 XL standard, with an additional internal rave to rave strapping system for part loads.

Barrus chose two differing boxvan designs to maximise the flexibility of their operations; a tri-axle straight frame boxvan with tail lift, capable of lifting a 3T load on each lift into the trailer and a tandem step-frame boxvan trailer featuring a fully enclosed tail lift, which forms part of the rear enclosure and doubles as a ramp for loading equipment. The latter also features an internal ramp to allow loading onto the upper step deck.

“Our continued investment in quality equipment demonstrates Barrus’ commitment to a high-quality service for existing and new clients,” said Barrus Transport Manager, Rob Malone. “SDC trailers have served us very well over the years, and we are delighted with the new additions to our expanding fleet.”

A long-standing customer of SDC, Barrus is located in Oxfordshire at the heart of the motorway system. The Barrus transport fleet is operated and driven by the company's own professional team and are equipped with demountable forklifts that allow for highly efficient distribution.
