Knorr-Bremse on connectivity

German braking technology company, Knorr-Bremse, is driving efficiency gains for fleet managers and vehicle operators with its cross-brand telematics solution for trucks and trailers.

Knorr-Bremse TruckServices ProFleet Connect is modular in design and can be tailored to accommodate operational requirements.

The Intelligent Trailer Access Point (iTAP) from Knorr-Bremse reportedly offers comprehensive wireless control of the trailer or semi-trailer. The rear-view camera mounted in the vehicle provides drivers with a clear overview of the rear of the truck from the cab when reversing, enabling them to monitor the situation or control the unloading process without having to enter the potential danger zone.

“In the future, the individual truck will increasingly become part of comprehensive logistics networks,” said Knorr-Bremse Executive Board Member, Dr Peter Laier. “Connectivity at multiple levels helps generate a marked improvement in the efficiency of each individual vehicle.”

“With ProFleet Connect, for example, we are offering smart services which enable optimised performance of transportation tasks and, based on the collected data, deliver added value for fleet operators and drivers alike,” said Knorr-Bremse Management Board Chairman, Bernd Spies. “All of the solutions on show can be retrofitted, irrespective of the brand of vehicle, and provide a very practical means of standardisation for mixed fleets in particular.”

Knorr-Bremse’s modular and cross-brand telematics systems contribute to optimum fleet organisation, greater active safety, effective driver coaching and more efficient maintenance, leading to lower costs for fleet operators and boosting competitiveness. These systems can be adapted to meet customer requirements and are designed for both tractor and trailer units.
