German transport business adds Krone container-carrier trailers to fleet

Schmid Transport and Spedition has taken delivery of 33 Box Liners from German OEM, Krone, bolstering its national and international logistics operation.

According to Krone, Schmid Transport required a hard-working and reliable container carrier with flexibility and easy loading for its demanding, pick-up-and-drop, sea container and swap body service, and selected two versions of Krone’s Box Liner, the eLTU70 and eLTU4.

Both container chassis are reportedly designed for multi-position use and can accommodate any size of standard container or tank from 20’ to 40’. Manufactured using the latest KTL – cathodic-dip paint process, for effective corrosion protection, the low-weight trailers are specified for improved cargo distribution and maximum payload.

“The service provided for our customers is of the highest standard and over the last 70 years has never stood still,” said Schmid Transport Proprietor, Markus Schmid.

“Therefore, we need trailer chassis which not only cope with a wide variety of container sizes but also stand up to the daily pressures of round-the-clock loading.

“These extendable Box Liners are perfect for our customers’ needs and make a valuable addition to our vehicle fleet,” he said.

The Schmid family business has been active in the national and international commercial transport industry since 1948. Now, with 180 employees and in addition to its headquarters in Regensburg, the company operates over 110 prime movers and 260 trailers from locations in Nuremberg, Bamberg and Munich.

Krone recently introduced a new system for ordering trailer parts, speeding up supply and guaranteeing accurate parts replacement for the life of every Krone vehicle.
