UK logistics chain receives bulk Tiger Trailers order

UK-based logistics company, Boughey Distribution, has updated its fleet with 50 new curtain-siders from trailer builder, Tiger Trailers, increasing the OEM's contribution to the fleet by more than 75 per cent.

Boughey was one of Tiger’s launch customers, taking delivery of its first Tiger curtain-siders in early 2015 – with this new order taking the Tiger Trailers-built fleet to 156 units. The latest delivery includes 35 4.2m and 15 4.5m tall clearspan tri-axle trailers, with the taller assets being used to support specific contracts requiring double-stacked loads.

“We were one of Tiger’s very first customers, and the fact we are gradually replacing the entire fleet speaks volumes,” said Boughey Group Fleet Engineer, Paul Brimelow.

“We know what Tiger is capable of in terms of quality and customer care. They do everything they can to support us, and if we ever have an issue, they work to address it immediately – you can’t put a price on what that’s worth,” he said.

The new trailers have reportedly been built to Boughey’s bespoke specification, including 13 pairs of load restraints and rear bunching straps fitted at the rear corner pillars, with the design including snap hooks and rings on the inside, for maximum ease of use. Flush fitting rear doors made from galvanised steel, with four hinges and robust double door lock bars boost load security, plus the trailers are certified to EN 12642-XL standards.

“This is no ordinary supplier relationship; we regard it more as a partnership,” said Brimelow.

“Tiger Trailers take on board our feedback and bend over backwards to support us.

“They also make decisions fast – if we ask for something, there’s no delay whilst they wait for a factory in another location to confirm whether or not they can do it. They’re incredibly receptive to feedback and the quality of the product keeps us coming back,” he said.

The new additions to the fleet have been supplied on an eight-year lease direct from Tiger Trailers, and are each mounted with BPW axles, Knorr-Bremse braking system and specified on the customer’s preferred Michelin tyre policy.
