H.Essers adds more than 200 Kögel trailers to fleet

Belgian logistics company, H.Essers, has ordered some 210 new Kögel Cargo Rail trailers that were specially designed for multimodal transport.

According to Kögel, all 210 units are equipped with a reinforced chassis with gripper edges integrated right into the frame, allowing for ‘gripper jaw’ tarpaulin protection and special axles to be fitted.

“For unaccompanied boat and ferry transport, the trailers feature optional RoRo equipment with a diagonal reinforcement between the side member and the external frame, a ten-millimetre-thick closed slide plate, a ten-millimetre-thick wheel plate and four pairs of heavy-duty lashing rings,” Kögel explained.

The floor load-bearing capacity of the trailer was reportedly designed to withstand high forklift axle loads up to 8,000kg. A 720mm-long transition plate made of steel chequer plate is mounted above the rear end beam for added strength.

With 950,000m² of warehouse space, a fleet of 1,460 trucks and 3,050 trailers, H.Essers is one of the biggest logistics service providers in Europe.
