Swiss container transport trailers to grow

Semi-trailers carrying 45-foot containers as intermodal traffic in Switzerland will be allowed to be 15cm longer as of 7 May 2017.

According to the International Transport Journal, the move allows such containers to be hauled by road to loading terminals.

Furthermore, the country’s federal council will reportedly increase the maximum permissible weight for trucks and articulated vehicles with two or three axles by the maximum of one tonne to compensate for the weight stemming from alternative drive technology.
