Wabash reports historic Q2 results

US trailer manufacturer, Wabash National, has announced that Q2 2016 results show the quarter to be the best in company history, with records set for gross profit, income from operations and operating EBITDA.

Net income in Q2 2016 was US$35.5 million (€31.9 million), up 24 per cent compared to Q2 2015 result of US$28.6 million (€25.7 million). The record Q2 results follow record-breaking Q1 results.

Operating income increased 40 per cent to US$58.9 million (€52.9 million), compared to US$42.1 million (€37.8 million) for the second quarter of 2015, and Operating EBITDA was US$72.8 million (€65.34 million), an increase of 36 per cent compared to the year prior.

According to Wabash, the continued year-over-year improvement in operating performance is attributable to the successful execution of the company’s growth and diversification strategies, strong demand within the Commercial Trailer Products segment and outstanding operational execution across the company’s manufacturing facilities.

“The record financial performances of the company over the past several quarters further demonstrate our commitment to operational excellence leveraging our long-standing expertise in lean manufacturing and process improvements, our continued strategy to favour margin over volume in the core trailer business as well as a strong demand environment within our Commercial Trailer Products segment,” said Dick Giromini, President and Chief Executive Officer.

“New trailer shipments for the second quarter were approximately 15,900, in-line with our previous guidance of 15,500 to 16,500 trailers driven by strong customer pick-ups. A healthy backlog of $860 million (€798.9 million, ed.), overall trailer market projections well above replacement levels for the remainder of 2016 and outstanding operational execution across the business, have put us on pace to deliver another record year in 2016, our fifth consecutive year of record performance.”
