Schmitz Cargobull partners with tech startup

Schmitz Cargobull has invested in startup community marketplace, TruckIN, to develop new intelligent platforms for improving driver recruitment, execution of freight orders and maximising truck capacity.

TruckIN is a logistics marketplace that uses next generation technology to connect trucking companies with shippers, freight forwarders and drivers, which was created at the Startup Bootcamp, Smart Transportation & Energy, in Berlin in 2015.

Schmitz Cargobull is investing in TruckIN with a capital participation of 20 per cent, aiming to create an integrated information network of Schmitz Cargobull telematics data that will allow customers to manage many processes of their logistics business on one platform.

According to Schmitz Cargobull, TruckIN cofounders have significant logistics expertise, and have utilised their own experiences and extensive market research to identify the potentials of driver recruitment, load acquisition, and freight fulfilment to help solve the pervasive empty kilometres and driver shortage problems within the industry.

Schmitz Cargobull’s engagement with TruckIN is reportedly the beginning of the expansion strategy for trailer services, with the objective to significantly advance the digitalisation “all around the trailer and load“.

This partnership will reportedly provide a firm foundation for developing new services, which will be available at the beginning of 2017 for driver recruitment and in the middle of the year 2017 for its freight capacity marketplace.
