Hellmann reveals company restructure plan

Germany's Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has commenced a large-scale restructure to allow for a “generational” handover and prepare the business for future growt

According to Hellmann, the company is changing its legal structure from a GmbH & Co. KG to an SE & Co. KG in order to work with an increasing number of family shareholders joining Hellmann as part of a major “generational handover”.

As part of the process, the company is also planning to reorganise its Air/Sea, Road/Rail and Contract Logistics business units in order to “optimise the customer and delivery processes, and to generate a sustained increase in earnings”.

The new SE & Co. KG will be headed by a three-member Management Board comprised of Managing Directors, Jost Hellmann and Klaus Hellmann, as well as Managing Director and CEO, Dr Thomas Knecht (pictured), as Chairman of the Board.

“After approximately 40 years of active and successful collaboration, it is time to introduce a younger management team and to hand over the leadership. It is nevertheless important for us to play an active role as members of the Management Board for the transition in the coming years,” Jost Hellman commented on the move.
