Stoughton Trailers unveils new underride guard

US-based Stoughton Trailers has introduced its new rear underride guard, designed to provide greater protection at the rear of the trailer.

According to the company, the engineering team designed the underride guard based on the recommendations of the auto insurer organisation, Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

“After thorough testing, we are confident that this design will set the new standard for rear underride safety in our industry,” said President and CEO, Bob Wahlin.

“We place such a high value on the safety of both our customers and the driving public that we have chosen to provide this improved level of safety and performance as a standard feature — and at no additional cost.”

Stoughton said the new underride guard will be made available in the fourth quarter of 2016 in painted carbon steel, galvanized steel or stainless steel options, and will also include two additional bolt-on vertical supports on the outer ends of the horizontal bar.
